Medicare Item Numbers
Hospital and medical fees are all based on item numbers. All surgery is performed in private hospitals and each hospital that will have its own set of fees. In addition, the amount of out of pocket cost for the patient will depend on the type of private health insurance. If you want to know your out of pocket hospital costs, you will need to telephone the hospital you have chosen for your operation. Quote the item number of the operation and the type of Private Health Insurance you have and the hospital will detail your out of pocket expenses.
